I recently purchased a website in which I installed a tracker that I need to follow up on my customer/clients actions such as sales, returns and my ecommerce product performance and Norton decided to flag is as spam and suspicious. The funny thing is that I have never send any traffic to this website yet, because I was just preparing the tool.
I have reported it multiple times through the submit dispute tool and they responded “the rating did not change” even when there is all the evidence that the website is 100% clean and reliable. In fact my clients don’t need to do anything with the website, because its sole purpose is to follow up on business performance.
I’ve written to Norton through the Facebook messenger and the only solution they give is to resubmit the website for another review… The problem with this is that I’ll get an automated message saying the “A Dispute is already in progress” and those who have had a similar experience in the past know for sure that once you receive that message, it could take MONTHS for Norton to review this website again and that if they decide to review it again.
It’s been more than a week and my business is stopped, because of Norton.
This company’s automated classification as false positive is a business destroyer.
I need a solution to my flag, because my company relies completely on a safe environment to clients and us.
What to do next Norton? Being back and forth with you is frustrating, time consuming and most importanly money consuming.
I need a solution to my website incorrect flag as soon as possible.
We continue to receive no update from Norton Safe Web either. We have submitted this dispute many times:
Current category: Phishing
Suggested category: Office/Business Applications
Comments:
This is the development site for our Vaulting B2B solution. You must authenticate before accessing any parts of the solution besides the login screen.
We’ve been submitting these for many months and have not heard anything back and the status has not changed. Each dispute submission we continue to submit we get a message on screen that says the dispute is already in progress.
It’s been more than 2 weeks since I submitted disputes (and re-submitted disputes) with the hopes to clear the website’s flag - all of the disputes I re-submmit say: “Dispute Already in Progress” and I can’t pass that message.
Today, once again, I reached support through the chat and I was told that they (level 3 team) is working on a solution. Not that they have not replied the same or similar words in previous chats.
My business has been affected because I need to guarantee that my clients receive an optimal experience and service and I can’t provide that with a flagged domain.
I don’t know why Norton decided to flag my website in the first place, and this flag just ocurred during the website preparation, while I was installing the necessary tools for my business to be properly tracked and optimized. No traffic has never been received or send to and from the website, and yet Norton’s systems decided that it was ok to flag it.
With so many people in the same situation, I’m starting to think that Norton’s automated tools are not good and the company is not aiming to provide it’s clients the best support and experience.
Going back to the website, all other tools and antivirus mark it as safe and clean, Norton has that evidence, because I have send it to them.
It is frustrating to be back and forth with Norton trying to get a fix from a false domain flag that they assigned and not getting a solution from them. Totally disappointed.
It’s been more than 3 weeks trying to fix the flag from my website hxxps://train-guru1[.]com
with yesterday reaching Norton’s offices by phone to find a resolution.
They told my that it was going to be resolved today and that the flag was going to be fixed.
I received an email stating that no malware was detected, but still it is marked as suspicious.

I also see a note from your end that says: Outdate Software Detected - Nginx
However, I have removed the Nginx to see if this is what is triggering the flag.
I turned off Norton Safe Web because it is a nuisance. Norton used to give you the option to include a Norton Safe Web Toolbar. Now it is the default setting. If you turn it off, your taskbar icon will always show a red x which you tend to ignore. However, unless you open the program, you could have other issues. It should be optional and only inform you of this when you view the Norton homepage to see a notice that you turned it off.
When I spoke with Norton Support, they told me to type in browser protection in the dashboard search which brought be to several options. The top on was for safe web and I was directed to just turn that off to give you an option to turn it back on. Otherwise, you would have to download the product again. But it is a pain to see the red x on the norton icon in the taskbar.
Okay…some users are not v25
can you post screenshot regarding red X
fwiw ~ my Norton 360 v25.1.9816 with Norton 360 Safe Web disabled does not render red X on system tray button.
Hmm…maybe my v25.1.9816 is broken.
I’m tried of reinstalling Norton 360 to confirm whether Norton 360 is working as designed.
Norton needs to publishes and maintain an online, current, in-depth, indexed, searchable, illustrated/videos…Norton 360 User Guide
================================================
Note: I can generate a red X with Auto-Protect or Smart Firewall disabled
Edit1: retest Browser Data Protection disabled does not generate red X
my Norton 360 install can not be trusted to work as designed because I’ve no idea what is…as designed.
Edit2: on my Norton 360 v25.1.9816 - disable Auto-Protect or Smart Firewall consistently generate red X
