Norton security reinstalls automatically

Norton Security got installed on my Windows10 computer without my conscious ok. I removed it with NRnR tool but it keeps reinstalling by itself. I have checked for malware and found none.

How can I remove this product completely and prevent its reinstallations?

Thanks.

Try the Norton Removal and reinstall tool again and be sure you use the Advanced Options > Remove Only.

GrizzK:

I had tried to uninstall with IOBit uninstaller but it gave a message that I should use the Norton removal tool.

Sorry, I've never run IOBit.
Thanks again for update.

Thanks! I will check the task scheduler/file explorer. I had tried to uninstall with IOBit uninstaller but it gave a message that I should use the Norton removal tool. The tool has done its job. The only difference this time was that I shut the PC down and restarted instead of rebooting.

Maybe, check Task Scheduler....and Public Downloads folder for related.
Maybe, scour File Explorer for remnants.

Thanks for update.

FWIW ~ I've been using built-in Uninstaller - Settings > Apps > Uninstall

Removed Norton Security with Norton removal tool (remove only) and did a hard reboot as suggested. Norton did not appear after reboot.

But when I connected to the internet got a message Norton Download manager 'unable to continue' (Screen shot attached).

'Autoruns' showed 3 Norton/Symantec entries (Norton Product Installer, SymInstallStub, EraserUtilDrv11730). The Norton message did not appear after deleting the 'Norton Product Installer' entry.

It has remained so after several reboots and online sessions. Hope this has solved the problem.

Thanks everyone for the patient help.

I had installed Adobe Digital Editions about 3 weeks before the Norton Security showed up. Have not updated any other product.

Will try the uninstallation/restart and get back. Otherwise will wait for the remaining trial period (23 days) and then see what happens.

Thanks

Thanks all.

I had installed Adobe Digital Editions about 3 weeks before the Norton Security showed up. Have not updated any other product.

I would not blame IOBit apps - I have been using these for a long time without any issues (may be one - they are too pushy about updates). Also, I have tried replicating the recent installations on another computer and found no problem.

Have you updated any Adobe products lately? I remember Norton getting bundled with an Adobe update some time ago. The installer got embedded in the Adobe product folder tree.

Okay....
try uninstalling with Remove Only + machine Restart (not Shut down).
try scouring File Explorer and Task Scheduler for remnants?

try uninstalling Norton Trial like any program + machine Restart (not Shut down).

Wonder what changes IOBit made to your machine.

I had Windows Fast Startup on - will try to uninstall after turning it off.

I tried uninstalling with IOBit Uninstaller first but it asked me to use the Norton removal tool.

Thanks
Okay....appears to be Norton Trial.  Maybe, pre-installed?

Wonder if IOBit ASC &or Uninstaller install/run triggered some pre-install bundled event?

Norton should uninstall like any other program.
You have Windows Fast Startup Off?

Wonder if IOBit Uninstaller is blocking Uninstall?

Wonder if there's a scheduled task reinstalling Trial?
Any related task with Task Scheduler?

I am not sure which screen snips to send. I and attaching two images of what I have now (with Norton installed)

Image 1. Windows Security centre image where Norton has registered itself and replaced defender. Cannot change anything under 'manage providers'

Image 2. What appears when I click open Norton Security

If these are what will help, I will uninstall Norton and send you the new images - will take a bit of time, thiugh.

Can you post a screen snip of this Norton product that reappears/reinstalls after running NRnR > Remove Only.

I had downloaded ASC etc from IOBit site. Ran the installation again, found no Norton bundle.

I ran the installations again - NO these DO NOT bundle Norton Security.

So I do not know how it came to my computer. Malware check did not find anything.

What I need now is to remove it and stop further reinstallation.

Thanks

GrizzK:

1. I ran the Norton removal tool as Admin.

2. I am NOT saying that the Norton Security came with Iobit ASC/Uninstaller. I am sying that these are the only two I had installed (updated actually) during the week when I noticed Norton on my computer, which was 5 days back.

I will check the Iobit apps closely to see if they include any bundled software.

Oh.... okay.  Two IOBit programs.  You installed IOBit ASC Free and IObit Uninstaller Free.
Please.... from where did you get IOBit ASC Free and IObit Uninstaller Free. ?

I am running ASC v.14 free
