Having received a dark web alert about a password breach I now need to check what the password was. In the alert there is no way to do this (following this link: my norton extspa lifelock - adapted as links aren’t allowed).
The virtual assistant stated that I need to confirm my email address before being able to see the exposed password, however there is no option to do this on the alert page or any other page.
The chat support disconnected after it said that it was connecting me to a human.
I doubt the supposed breached password is relevant as I would have received an email notification elsewhere. Still I need to confirm. How can we get in touch with staff about these notifications?
No. This is not relevant. The user in that thread had difficulty in receiving a verification email but had a link to use a verification code with. I can receive verification emails but have no relevant link to a combo list.
My query is still open. A relevant response is yet to be provided. @bmj please be so kind as to dissist from replying further unless you can respond to my main query
I have received a ‘Dark Web Activity’ alert from Norton which lists an exposure date, my email address and lists the word ‘Password’ under the heading ‘Additional Exposed Information’.
However I have no idea which password it is supposed to be.
Would this be referring to the password connected to the email listed?
And there is no available contact details on the Norton site; only a chatbot that doesn’t answer my question.
I spent half an hour waiting to speak to a person (on an International phone call) and eventually hung up.
@Tomislav_Plesa & @J_BONNER, if there are three of us bothering to post about this then there must be scores of other people having the same frustrations.
It’s not an issue of any one of us getting a simple bit of information. It’s a systemic issue that should be fixed for everyone.
Without some way of providing feedback I’m not sure how this will be resolved at the root.
@bjm Norton seems to be infected by an arms length customer service policy. I appreciate that you are making information readily available but this is a more systemic issue. Please don’t reply further (not even once more) unless it’s about how the software developers have resolved this in the source code. Thank you for understanding.
No, I do not understand. I’m able to reach support and you et al are not.
I’m curious where you’re located…since, I’m able to reach support and you’re (at arms length) not.
It’s not clear whether alerts are related to another account that has the mentioned email as username or the email account itself. In my case I suspect that it is another account. If it is other accounts then as a precaution one might want to change all passwords that use that email address as a username - or at least the sensitive ones.
If the source of the exposure is known then you might be able to get the combo list stating the password - which may narrow down the account. If the source is unknown then they can not provide the combo list.
@bjm thank you for the support and apologies for venting my frustration.
Best wishes.
This issue is now resolved for me. I hope for others soon as well
