Norton Password Manager Autofill and Autosave does not work here

============================

  • Verify Vault Status: Ensure your Norton vault is unlocked. If the vault is locked, the extension cannot access or fill your data.
  • Check URL Matches: Compare the URL of the website you are visiting with the URL saved in your Norton vault. If they do not match exactly, autofill may not trigger.
  • Update and Restart: Ensure the Norton Password Manager extension and your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) are updated to the latest versions. Restarting the browser can often resolve temporary glitches.
  • Disable Conflicting Extensions: Other password managers or ad-blockers can interfere with Norton’s autofill functionality. Try disabling them temporarily to test.
  • Split-Page Logins: Some sites (like banking) use separate pages for username and password. Norton typically supports these but may require you to manually submit the first field before it detects the second.

===========================

Android

  1. Enable Autofill Service: Go to the Norton Password Manager app > Menu > Settings > Autofill and ensure “Autofill passwords” is ON.
  2. Chrome Permissions: In Chrome for Android, go to Settings > Autofill Services and select “Autofill using another service,” then choose Norton Password Manager.
  3. App Compatibility: Norton does not support autofill for every Android app; it prioritizes high-usage apps like social media.

iOS

  1. System Settings: Go to your device Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords > Password Options. Move the slider to enable Norton Password Manager.
  2. App Settings: Inside the Norton Password Manager app, navigate to Settings and verify that “AutoFill passwords” is set to ON.

Reporting Issues
If autofill continues to fail on a specific website, you can report it directly to Norton:

  • Launch the app, go to Menu > Help > Report An Issue. Select “Problem logging into a website” and provide the URL.

Same issue. Started a few weeks ago, maybe a month or so. I thought it was a Norton glitch that would be quickly cleared up but it persists.

Running Windows 11, Google Chrome both up to date.

The Norton password box with the correct site information pops up when I hover over the relevant page’s user ID and password blanks, but clicking on the Norton pop-up box no longer fills in the page’s user ID and password blanks. I must manually type them in or copy and paste from the dropdown from the extension icon.

Troubleshooting Norton Password Manager Auto-Fill :hammer_and_wrench:

It sounds like there is a communication breakdown between the Norton extension and the website’s login fields. While the extension correctly identifies the site, the “injection” of your credentials into the boxes is being blocked or failing.

1. Refresh the Extension Connection Sometimes the extension’s background process hangs.

  • Toggle the extension: Go to your browser’s extension settings, turn the Norton Password Manager OFF and then back ON.
  • Sign Out/In: Open the extension, sign out of your vault entirely, and sign back in. This often resets the auto-fill permissions.

2. Check for Conflicting Extensions Other security or “helper” extensions can interfere with how Norton interacts with a page.

  • Ad-Blockers: Highly aggressive ad-blockers can sometimes mistake the Norton pop-up script for an intrusive ad and block its action. Try disabling your ad-blocker on that specific site to see if functionality returns.
  • Duplicate Managers: If you have the browser’s native password manager (e.g., Chrome or Edge’s built-in manager) active at the same time, they may “fight” for control over the fields. Disable the browser’s built-in “Offer to save passwords” and “Auto-fill” settings.

3. Clear Browser Cache and Update A corrupted cache can prevent scripts from running correctly.

  • Clear Cache: Clear your browser’s “Cached images and files” (you don’t necessarily need to clear cookies).
  • Check for Updates: Ensure your browser is running the latest version. Then, go to your browser’s extension store and ensure there isn’t a “Update” button waiting for the Norton extension.

4. Site-Specific Incompatibility Some websites use complex coding or “iFrames” for their login boxes to prevent automated attacks.

  • If this only happens on one specific site, it is likely that the site’s code has changed in a way that blocks Norton’s current auto-fill method.
  • If it happens on all sites, the issue is likely with the extension installation itself. In this case, removing the extension and reinstalling it from the official store is the most effective fix.

Hello @MaryJo_Pfleger
Care to share your progress

No progress to report. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the extension twice with no results. I have updated my Chrome and cleared my history, also have shut down and restarted my desktop.

Still open to suggestions! Thanks

I have tried everything suggested here.

what OS?
and you’ve reported the issue via Norton support?
and you’re placing cursor in the login field?
and click-to-fill does not work?

Fixing Norton Password Manager Autofill Issues :wrench:

Norton Password Manager should seamlessly autofill usernames and passwords on websites. If it’s not working, common causes include browser extension problems, disabled settings, conflicts, or outdated software. Follow these steps to troubleshoot—most users resolve it quickly.

Verify Browser Extension

  • Confirm the Norton Password Manager extension is installed in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) from the official store.
  • Pin the extension to your toolbar, sign in with your Norton account, and ensure it’s enabled (green icon when active).
  • Test by clicking the extension icon on a login page—it should detect and offer saved entries.

Enable Autofill Settings

  • Open the extension, go to Settings (gear icon), and toggle on Autofill and Autosave logins.
  • In your browser settings, disable any built-in password managers (e.g., Chrome’s “Offer to save passwords” or iCloud Keychain) to avoid conflicts—Norton works best as the default.
  • Restart the browser after changes.

Check and Update Vault Entries

  • In the extension or Norton app, verify your logins are correctly saved (e.g., matching URLs like example.com, not subdomains).
  • Update to the latest version for autofill fixes.
  • Manually trigger save: Log in once, select “Save to Norton Vault” when prompted.

Additional Quick Fixes

  • Clear browser cache/cookies for affected sites.
  • Disable other extensions (e.g., ad blockers) temporarily.
  • If on mobile apps, set Norton as the system autofill provider in device settings (Settings > Passwords > Autofill).

Get Further Help

  • Contact Norton support via live chat, phone, or their knowledge base for personalized help. If issues persist, it might be site-specific (e.g., some portals like MyChart block autofill).

==============================

Tutorials show it working after enabling the browser extension and settings—e.g., clicking the Norton icon on a login page to fill credentials instantly.

I have been having the same issue for the past couple of weeks.

What other web browser(s) are you using other than Chrome? Is Chrome set as your default browser as set in Windows 11? Have you used Edge as a test to determine whether Chrome itself is the issue? TIA.

Another user also has the same issue here:

I just activated the Norton Password Manager in Edge. It works normally, so I assume that the issue is with Chrome.

Same here…it works with Edge. I guess I’ll just have to start using Edge instead of Chrome.

My case is solved. A Norton agent called me yesterday and he fixed my issue. It took about 20 minutes…but well worth the time. He was super!

Hello @MaryJo_Pfleger
Thanks for sharing your progress.

So, does your Norton Password Manager autofill → automatically populate credentials…the moment a page loads without you clicking the Norton icon or a prompt?

I’m not familiar with Norton Password Manager autofill
I’m familiar with Norton Password Manager click-to-fill | click-to-fill

Norton password never auto-filled without interaction. I’ve been using it for many years.

Normally a small Norton Password Manager icon would appear in the log-in and password fields. When you clicked on the small icon in the uname and password fields, a pop-up window appeared with relevant log-ins for that page. Clicking on the relevant log-in would populate the log-in and password fields.

Now, I click the icon, the pop-up appears with the relevant log-ins but clicking on the relevant log-in does nothing. The fields remain blank.
