You might want to dis-able System Restore and then run a Full System Scan; I would also just doing a Scan in Safe Mode.
You might want to Download, Installed, Update and run a Full Scan in Safe Mode with this too to be on the Safe side: http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button.
Thanks for your reply!
Okies, but would this software interfere with NIS 2009? I did run Symantec Security check and the scans came out fine.
No problem. :)
No; it is an on-demand Scanner. You have to pay for the Real-Time Protection, a.k.a. Auto-Protect.
Please upgrade to Firefox 3.03. Malware Bytes is an on demand scanner so it doesnt run in real time. Have you run a full scan with NIS? The security check doesnt look for spyware or viruses. Can you explain what these pop ups are?
I am a gamer and play WOW and Rune scape with no troubles.
Hello again
I have ran the Malware bytes scan as instructed. The scan took about 1 hr, 39 mins, 52 seconds with no results
I have downloaded Firefox 3.0.3 a long time ago, and it is Firefox that is blocking these pop ups.
The pop ups that are blocked are ordinary adverts that are displayed on the site. It can be Capital One, Monster, or the classmates.com adverts. I know these adverts are safe but I don't know why they are being blocked.
I have ran NIS 2009 scan (full system) with no results niether.
Any ideas?
Edit: Diesel, I noticed you said you play Runescape with no troubles. I can play Runescape, log into the forums etc., but when I select, Existing User and a advert loads up, this is where Firefox blocks an advert, or when I have selected on the High detail option and I am on the World Select page.
You should unblock them if you want to see those pop ups. Or you can test with other browsers and see what happens
I have tested it with Internet Explorer 7 an it seems pop ups are blocked there too. I really wish not to un block them because there may come a time where one of these pop ups may contain an advert that are harmful. I have seen these in the past with my one of my older computers.
<< ... this is where Firefox blocks an advert ... >>
PMJI but I thought one reason that people went to Firefox was that it has an effective add-in for ad-blocking, which Norton dropped from its Add-On/AntiSpam utility.
In this case why don't you disable the ad blocker or tell it to exclude the gaming site where you have a problem.
Well, I would, but like I said in my last post, some adverts can have pop ups that can potentialy harm your computer. I have been submitting advert complaints like a crazy person, but nothing is done about them, which means the problem can’t be on their end

True, but if you cannot specify the harmless source you have to take the risk or do without?

Or alternatively that they don't give a dam' whether you like them or not -- they need them to pay the rent .....
I use the Google Toolbar PopUp blocker and with it I can tell it to let the popup through "just this one time" or I can tell it that this site is OK so let the popups they post come through.
FWIW
For Firefox there is this extension called Ad-Block, which you can use to allow certain pop-ups and disable others. I do not think it is malware on your system; no scanners picked up any malware.

This is a guideline from their corporate site: "We cannot accept: any expanding media, pop ups or pop-unders of any sort. We support all standard image, animated image and rich media advert types"

Well, I have an idea since I have no clue on this. Is there any way to post images in your posts?
What version of Norton are you running? What other security are you running?

I only have Norton Internet Security 2009. I have no other software besides this. I only ran the Malware scan provided earlier on page 1, and there were no results. I have uninstalled the program afterward.

You can keep Malwarebytes installed on your system; the on-demand scanner anyway. I would suggest this because this will catch things that Norton misses.
I'm sorry but I really can't help you since I don't understand your problem. For example in your first message you say:
<< I have ran a little experiment, and I have allowed pop ups for this site, but here's the twist, no pop ups come up at all >>
So if no popups come up what is the problem? You say later it is a site that does not allow popups so why should they come up and why do you have to protect against popups on this particular site?
This does not seem to be a Norton situation since you say you are using the blocker in Firefox?
It is possible to insert images on this site but I've never done it and at present you have to establish an internet site for them yourself and then link to them in the message. I don't know the details since I've never done it.
I think we are losing you here. Like Red said you didnt have to uninstall Malware Bytes. Its one of the bets if not the best free malware scanner out there. Is your problem that your getting pop ups or is that pop ups are being blocked. NIS does not block pop ups.
*sigh* Okay, I'll try to explain,
Runescape does not allow pop ups of any sort. Now, when I am about to play the game, a pop up is blocked. I press the pop icon at the bottom of Firefox and select show the pop up that was blocked, and it turns out to be one of the many adverts that are displayed on the website.
Afterward, I restart my computer and I run at least 2 full system scans for spyware, malware and viruses with Norton Internet Security 2009 and the results are that, "No viruses, spyware, or other risks were found." I restart my computer and try to play the game again.
When the page loads, I select "Existing User" and the Detail page displays. When the advert loads on this page, a pop up is blocked, or if I select High Detail option and the World Select page loads up, a pop up is blocked there.
I then run a scan again and nothing is found. I submit an advert complaint and the advert goes into investigation. After a week, the same adverts are still there which means that the problem is not at the company's end and Firefox still blocks a pop up.
In conclusion, my issue is that I am getting pop ups (which are blocked). How may I stop these pop ups from appearing?
