Renewal process with new key does not work

I’m looking to renew a Norton subscription by entering a product key. I have done the following: Open Norton. Click on Help > Enter Product Key at the bottom right. Then follow the prompts to enter the new key purchased.

When I enter the key, some red text appears above the Product Key box.

“Before you can start using your Norton subscription with this new key, we’ll need some additional information to register it. Please enroll at norton.com/setup. (-2027)”

When I get there, I’m asked to sign in (to my existing account) and when I’ve done that, I arrive at my dashboard. I can see nothing telling me what the missing additional information is. My account details already have name, address, telephone number and my repeat billing details are already entered.

What is Norton looking for, please?

Thanks, SoulAsylum. That is interesting and consistent with what I experienced. In any case, it seems to have cleared up and I was able to renew.

Thanks for replying. This was not the case. My billing information was fine. And the chat just would not work - again, I tried on multiple browsers.

FWIW!! Error 2027 most times indicates a "malformed packet" SQL issue which the device or, the website being contacted cannot handle. Most likely the latter was the issue on the Norton backend.

I saw this posting but the solution was to contact/chat with Norton which I was not able to do.  

Norton Support is via Chat or Phone.  No email support.

I finally got this to work as advertised (go to "help", click on Enter Product Key, etc) after trying many times on many browsers on various machines, with and without VPN, etc.  I can be of no help to anyone on this.  I assume that Norton did some tweaking after this posting.

I saw this posting but the solution was to contact/chat with Norton which I was not able to do.  This did not solve my problem.  See my last response for "solution".

Thanks for your reply. In the end, I had to use Norton Support chat. I didn't get an explanation for my problem but the helpful support guy extended my current subscription by 12 months, which amounts to the same thing as my product code being accepted. Thanks again for you interest.

Norton is probably looking for your billing information so they can sign you up for Automatic Renewal on your new subscription. You are not being charged anything at this time. Once activated, you are free to turn off the automatic renewal and remove your billing information.

There are many posts here about the absurdity of this unnecessary process.

Maybe, you need to check with Contact Norton Support that your new Key is valid. 
Maybe, you need to enable Automatic Renewal Service -> Activate Subscription Renewal
