Are there any messages in the Event Logs in Windows regaurding ccSvcHst crashing?
Hi Damascus,
More on viewing Windows events in XP.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427
Look under Application and System events.
Best wishes.
Allen
I had NIS 2011 for a while now and it had been functioning properly. The C++ versions are: 2005 Redistributable; 2005 ATL Update kb973923 - x86 8.0.50727.4053; 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.22022; 2008 Redistributable x86 9.0.30729.4974; and 2008 ATL Update kb973924 - x86 9.0.30729.4148.
I have no other antivirus or spyware programs installed. As for the logs, I don't know where to look for them; the Windows folder has a subfolder called "logs," but the only thing in it is a document called "DirectX.log."
I'm also getting Symantec Framework Failures, Java scheduler errrors (jusched.exe or something like that). All this started yesterday after two events, maybe three. The NIS patch, a Windows XP update, and an installation of an old DOS program. The DOS program was off the original manufacturer's disk and changed no files, so I can't believe it's a problem although I deleted it. DOSBox runs, but can't run any programs without crashing. System Restore runs, but after finishing says it couldn't do a system restore. WInDoctor runs correctly, but on closing I get a "The Parameter Is Incorrect" message.
Getting this error message on my Windows XP Home system about 30 seconds after starting:
Runtime Error!
Norton Internet Security\Engine\18.5.0.125\ccSvcHst.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
NIS shuts down and can't be restarted without rebooting, which leads to the above error and shutting down, etc.
OK, I didn't beleive this one myself, but the problem on both desktop and laptop is resolved. The problem? The DOS game changed the computer's date to Jan. 19, 8029. I went to see when a certain date fell out in 2001 and noticed the problem. I changed the date and rebooted; no more problems. Call it the Y8K bug.
It is reassuring to know that DOS still plans on being around in another 6000 years.
Thanks to all for your help.

HI Damascus,
Very good, happy that this is solved. Great job!
Not a symptom that I would expect to generate this kind of error but then 6000 years is a long time!
Best wishes and Happy New Year.

I'm glad you think so my friend!

Ok. I will give that a try now. I hope that works. I will let you know.
Thanks,
Chris
Ok. I uninstalled the version I had on the computer (which I just recently installed) and downloaded and installed the newest version from online, and I still get the error. Please help. It is driving me nuts!
Chris
Hi cbenardo13,
Please tell us what security product (s) and version you have on the PC.
What Operating System is running on the PC?
Thanks,
Katie

Right now, the current v ersion of Norton Safety Minder is 2.2.0.28. can you check your currently installed version of the Safety Minder?
If not, you can log in to the OnlineFamilhy.norton.com website and download install the latest version.
Thanks,
Andrew D.
I am running the latest version from Norton, as I just downloaded it. I recently uninstalled because of the constant errors, soI can not go into the program and tell. But I can assure you I just installed it last week. Iam running Windows XP SP3, with .Net Framework 4.0. I make sure to gett all the Windows updates. Please let me know, because I love the program, but I can not stand all of the errors.
Thanks
Can you provide any additional details regarding this error?
1) Does it happen with the computer starts up or shuts down, or is it random?
2) Does it happen when you are browsing the internet, or when using some other program?
3) Does it occur if you temporarily disable the Safety Minder?
Thanks,
