Scan Complete. Malware Found

I am getting a concerning warning notification on one of my Android S24 phones.

“Scan Complete. Malware Found”. The icon is the norton vpn icon. And there is red X.

When i click on the little down arrow it just repeats the message but no additional info. When i tap on the message it takes me to the VPN app. That shows that vpn is off because my network is secure. The ‘inbox’ has a thumbs up with no issues.

I’ve run a smart scan on 360 (premium) app on android and it is returning no issues.

I’ve run a smart scan on my 2nd Android S24 and no issues identified (and no warning notification). The settings here are same as those on the mobile showing the notification.

I’ve also run a specific scan on the wifi security option. Confirms no issues, that I’m on a secure network, password protected and with strong encryption.

I cannot find a report on the android 360 app with more detail. So no clue how to sort.

I’ve run both a smart and full scan (after live update) on both windows 11 laptops. No issues.

Android vs 15.

Norton 360 premium vs 5.121.0. 250828738 (ps.. would be nice if one could have a copy this button). I have uninstall ed and reinstalled. Same prob.

Norton VPN vs (app taken to when tapping the error) is 4.14.5.250711487 and product being 360 premium.

Have you restarted your device since seeing this issue? That often clears out caches that might be causing the continuous warning.

I would uninstall 360, restart the device and then reinstall and test.

Hi @peterweb. I had uninstalled 360, shutdown, restarted a couple of times. No joy. I then uninstalled the standalone vpn. Shutdown. Restarted. Checked that 360 didn’t need it and had is own vpn functionality. And all sorted. So it seems, without detailed investigation of course, that norton 360 was finding the standalone vpn a problem. Thanks for all your input.

Good diagnosis. Thanks for posting back.

This is an example of why it is not recommended to have both 360 and the standalone VPN app installed on Android. It can cause conflicts and strange behaviour, as you found out.
