Sharing subscription with family members

When I share with another member of my household do they create their own email login or do I have to share using my email address? I really do t want to do that.

CindyK,
Maybe, new Mac machine has pre-installed security solution that needs to be removed before installing Norton 360 for Mac.

Caveat: Windows user not familiar with Mac / Norton 360 for Mac.

CindyK,
Since my last post, I had my husband create an account. He then tried to download the Norton app, but it stalled while trying to install the 'helper'. He entered his user name and password correctly, but the installer just kept circling.

Why did your husband create a Norton account?  Did your husband enter his Norton account credentials?

CindyK,
Before knowing that I could transfer 1 of 5 of my Norton 360 licenses from my husband's old laptop to his new one, I removed his old laptop from my account, then sent an invite to him to install on the new laptop. The removal probably deleted his email/password from the records.

Sorry, I'm not understanding why/how removing a device.... deleted your Norton account credentials.

I have a PC and my husband just switched from PC to Mac. I'm considering a switch to Mac also, so I don't need to use Norton any further. That was my first post, and I didn't notice the thread was targeted for Norton 360 for Windows. I was interested in the subject matter and wanted to say "me too." I'll try to pick the correct thread, if another question arises. Thanks for your time. It looks like you have a good record of solutions and kudos!

Since my last post, I had my husband create an account. He then tried to download the Norton app, but it stalled while trying to install the 'helper'. He entered his user name and password correctly, but the installer just kept circling. The user name and password window remained onscreen, but didn't state that the info wasn't valid. There was no indication of the status of the download. After watching this for 15 minutes, we tried again, but were told the installation was already in progress. So we went back and watched some more circles spinning for awhile before cancelling the installation. We deleted the (now two) downloaded files. Tried another install, and again the circles spun for 1/2 hour. Meanwhile, I searched the community forum and learned that Norton 360 doesn't work and play well with Mac OS Big Sur, so I told my husband to cancel the install--forever.

CindyK,

I'm probably not understanding your scenario.  Norton product install requires Norton account.
If you review posted links... for example: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/using-norton-360-license-protect-differents-devices

You'll read ....by sending pre-activated Norton install to family member ....you're not sharing Norton account owners email address.

CindyK:
We tried to explain this on an online support chat, but this situation wasn't shown in the drop-down choices of what a computer could answer.

Yes, users need to get past virtual assistant by selecting any drop-down choices.
Users need to click through a few automated menus.  Chat virtual assistant eventually asks "Do you want to hold for live agent"?
Users need to click through a few automated help menus for virtual assistant to ask "Do you want to wait for live agent".
Users click for example: "Something else" a few times.  Chat virtual assistant will offer user "Do you want to wait for live agent".  User types "Yes" and user will be transferred to a live agent.

I attempted to contact the live chat but it is an automated agent and I got absolutely nowhere.

The removal probably deleted his email/password from the records. He needed his username (email) and password to install Norton, and he couldn't remember his password. When we asked for a password reset, he didn't get an email response, which means his email account is not active. We tried to explain this on an online support chat, but this situation wasn't shown in the drop-down choices of what a computer could answer. I tried using my email address and password on his laptop, but got an error message. How does one install on a family member's PC if there is no account/password already established except the administrator's (mine)? As J nd A originally posted, I really don't want to share using my email, and it appears I can't.
