Thread for version 24.xx issues and suggestions

Everyone: Having not posted in the thread for a while, thought I would post the announcement for the last posted release so everyone can take note of what has supposedly been added/corrected.

On a side note. Not having version 24.xx on any of my machines the thought occurred to take one of my new Windows 11 laptops with Norton on it and remove that version. It was gooned when the 24.xx release ripped my Norton account a new one with three different versions of Norton installed across all my devices. Things are well again since reverting but I cannot definitively assist with things not having 24.xx on at least one machine. I will install it on the smaller Win 11 laptop tomorrow and hope my account stays the way it presently is. I can therefore offer better assistance and in the event the install of 24.xx causes issues, resetting the laptop won’t cause headaches.

Anyone know why there is no posted official announcement for the actual newest Version 24.12.9725?

Not sure it’s on this gargantuan list of suggestions, but one suggestion would be the ability to save all settings to a backup file. From what I’ve seen (perhaps from a post by _bjm IIRC), Avast has such an option.

The forums Admin most likely hasn’t decided to post the latest version announcement yet.

You are probably right, it just seems odd to me since a version release usually follows an announcement.

@CptCat I just came across your post so you may have found a solution to detect/remove tracking cookies. I run the free version of SuperAntiSpyware periodically but only on an “on demand” basis since it’s an adjunct to N360 and Malwarebytes. I wouldn’t depend on SAS (free) for comprehensive protection but it’s done a decent job finding and deleting tracking cookies that Norton didn’t (that is, the previous version of N360 that was tooled to snag tracking cookies). Here’s the link Download SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition

Even though I use this app, I suggest running the file you download at VirusTotal before installing it, just to error on the side of caution. VirusTotal

By the way, Norton sells an antitrack app. :astonished: Antitracking Software | Block Trackers | Norton AntiTrack Looks like Norton provides a free scan but not having tried it, I don’t know if there’s a catch.

HI EVERYONE.
Does anybody have a clue as to how I might get my Identity tab back without re-installing? I’m running latest V24.12.9725.903 (since Dec)
@bjm @SoulAsylum

Bonsoir @majorbuzz

Hello @majorbuzz
are you’re Sign’d In at Norton Home UI?

Hi @bjm . Yes I’m logged in. I had the ‘identity’ tab a few months ago and then one day I just noticed it was gone.

@Gribouille342- That sounds kind of risky. I don’t want to re-install, as the other problems I’m having I can live with.

and you tried Sign out → Sign in?
and you tried Restart (not Shut down) machine?

@BJM- Yes, just logged out, then logged in. Closed Norton and restarted Windows 10 PC. Still no Identity tab.

and do you find Identity Protection here

other problems ?

Reset to Default? Note: you’ll need to re-create your backup set
Repair Norton?

@bjm - Yes clicking on your “here” link and signing in allows me to see three tabs – one is my "Protection tab with it’s dropdown.

To be honest, I don’t wish to reset to default and re-create backup set missing tab. I’d rather trassh this piece of crap and go with Bitfender.

and you’re trialed Bitdefender?
Hey, sure
remove Norton and trial Bitdefender.
You’re past 60 days since purchase
so, no refund
you lose nothing by removing Norton and trialing Bitdefender or even try Microsoft Defender a while before you install Bitdefender.

I’ve Reset to Default &or Repair Norton &or reinstall Norton so many times
it’s routine for me.
I’d do it
just to see if it’ll fix Identity tab. Just me.
I do wish Norton had export settings function.
Oh well
maybe, we’ll get export setting with v25 and hopefully, Bitdefender will satisfy ya’.
Regards w Respect
we’ll leave the light on for ya’

@bjm - I know you have, I’ve been following your posts and talked with you. You’ve uninstalled/re/installed because it ended up being a waste of time. V24 is crap, plain and simple, if it weren’t, this thread wouldn’t be one of the longest threads on the web. LOL

Sometimes unless you’re totally consumed, I feel you just have to walk away. I’m walkin!. Thanks for all your help throughout the past couple of months. I really appreciate your wisdom and time. Cheers!

Maybe its time to close out this thread? Not a lot has been gained or changed since we opened it FWIW!! There are now 519 posts in this thread alone.

Bonjour,
