Thanks for replies, my icon start grey then changes back to green as well.
I just notice the same as bjm_. Icon starts grey, then turns normal colour scheme.

Edit: machine restart on my machine renders grey tray Icon for a second....then tray Icon goes green (normal).
May be cosmetic re Norton takes longer to fully load, now. Maybe, grey tray Icon "status" varies by machine.
My setup is W10 Fast Startup Off and Norton Boot Time Protection Normal

Check your version of Norton Security. There is a new update announced this morning. One of the changes is to the appearance of the icon in the system tray. https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/norton-2217246-windows-now-available
Grey circle with a black tick means (on my machine) that Norton is not fully loaded.

Maybe, your Updates preference is: Apply Updates Only on Reboot
