Updates Fail to Complete Again in NIS09

Hey guys,

I know this is a repetitive topic to write about, but then again the AV Defs and the Web Protection Defs failed to install again.

I thought this was fixed with the new patch.  It's getting a bit annoying to be honest.

Anyone else except me, has this issue again?

Thanks.

TrDo.

Yup same here, yesterday all was fine. But today only pulse updates seem to work. I'm running NIS2009 v16.1.0.33 on Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 Dutch 32-bit.

Thanks for the reply, Denniz.

The experience from in here tells us that we should do nothing and wait.  I'm running the new patch 16.2.0.7.

Its just a bit frustrating...

Yes, I'm having the same trouble.  My update results screen looks just like the one Denniz posted.

Since the streaming definitions are updated (seemingly), does that mean my definitions are up-to-date?  Am I safe, definition-wise?  I use McAfee Site Advisor, so I assume Web Protection updates are not so critical.  Is that right?

NIS 2009, v. 16.1.0.33

Windows XP, SP2 (32 bit)

Hi TrDo,

You are correct again, wait a bit and see what happens.

Did this happen during a manual Run Live Update?

Yes - the same over here (Germany).

Seems to be some kind of global problem which has nothing to do with the latest patch

(I'm still on NAV 16.1.0.33)

I just downloaded the definitions with Intelligent updater and that worked fine.

Bye

Pulse updates should provide the necessary protection against malware.

I don't use McAfee Site Advisor, so I can't comment on that.

I'm sure Symantec is busy fixing these issues, any comment from them would be nice also.

Hey Phil_D,

Always nice to see you.  Yes, it happened during a manual Run Live update.

Hi bzzb,

Not to worry.  You're 100% safe (well, mathematically 99,9%).  It's just these last Defs that were not installed.  But your database is there "alive n' kicking".

Thanks.

TrDo.

Updates are not working for me and it appears some others using Norton 360.Updates were working properly yesterday

Yeah: Just a pain.

Yesterday everything fine, today not loading in, ?

When a person has banking, and trading to do everyday,

it can cost alot more than what these programs are worth I`ll tell YAH ! ! !

Wait and watch stock`s plungete down or up, some day`s it`s `GOOD` and some day`s

IT`S a `BAD`thing.

When a person depend`s on the Security.

Maybe Symantec’s definition-servers have decided to take a short holiday…

I didn't get the notice I guess because I'm the "boring type" that Marty mentioned here and I let NIS bring in the updates automatically; my current pulse updates were 5 minutes ago. I rarely use the manual Run Live Update.

Oops! Correction: Pulse updates are now 45 seconds ago.  And, as a test I ran the manual Live Update and no updates are currently required: "Your Norton Product has the latest protection updates".

Is anyone experiencing this trying to manually invoke the Live Updates on a regular basis?

Manually invoke --> yes

On a regular basis --> no

I ran it a couple of times manually because I want the v16.2 update, and I read that manually starting LiveUpdate worked for some people.

Same issue here with 360... had same issue a few weeks ago :(

I'll flag it for Symantec, but it may just be a server issue.

Wait a bit to see what your automatic and pulse updates do.

Hi everyone,

Symantec is aware of this issue and they are working towards a fix for this. Can someone confirm that the error code is 8920,212?

Vineeth --

For me, Yes

NAV 2009 / Security Content A error.

Errorcode? See the screenshot I posted, it doesn’t give any errorcode.

I’m not sure where to locate an error log in 360. In 360 the initial error is LU1806 then says LU1834

Yes, error code is 8920,212
