So please help me understand what you are trying to get here. Do you want the VPN feature on all the time? If so, you need to use the Manual option which turns the VPN on and leaves it on. You do nothing else to start the feature.
Other than contacting Norton Support, there is no phone number to call to discuss this issue. And to be honest, the Support staff's scripts have probably not been updated for the new mobile versions that include the VPN, so you will probably not get much useful information there. www.norton.com/contactcs You can get local phone numbers from that link.
I have read that document before...………..were is the updated version.....
You get the updated version by updating your Norton Mobile Security app from the Google Play Store. As I noted above, you may not see the update currently if the phased roll out is currently paused. You will just have to keep checking until you get it again. When you have the new version, tapping on the three bars at the top left of the screen and tapping on Settings > About, you should see version 5.0.0.xxx

NO I do not want to use VPN manually. I was simply saying that it use to WORK FINE on auto and now it does not. Right now I have to have it on manual so it runs all the time. Please read the previous post as I don't think you are understanding what is being said. In the last post I was describing what is happening now with Auto VPN. As of now if I put it on auto it does not stay on. Again please read the post.....
When I switch it to manual it works and stays on. I don't want to use VPN manually, I want it back to the way it use to be were it would stay on all the time.
I would like a number of someone I can call because this is just to much, rather talk to a human voice. Now please......I have had this software for 15 years now and never had problems before.
In an earlier post your say...
I put the 360 deluxe on my phone back months ago and the VPN was fine and running 24/7.
Now you say....
When I switch it to manual it works and stays on. I don't want to use manual. It worked before on Auto, this needs to be fixed ASAP.

So you were happy with the VPN always being on, but now you do not want this??? It is just a change in the wording of the control over the feature, with the Auto setting only turning on the VPN for compromised networks.
From your description, you are using an Android device. Here is the Product Announcement for the introduction of the latest Android version. Scrolling to the bottom explains that this update is being done in a phased manner. It is possible that you got the update and sometime after that the rollout was paused again for Norton to check their telemetry. You just have to keep checking for the update again.
I uninstalled the VPN icon and I get a message "Auto VPN has turned off VPN for this network. This network is password protected and has strong encryption". Below that it says "VPN See options in Privacy. I click on that it and comes up with "Auto VPN - We're monitoring your network status. VPN will turn on when needed" Then click learn more and it goes right back to "Auto VPN has turned off VPN for this network. This network is password protected and has strong encryption". When I switch it to manual it works and stays on. I don't want to use manual. It worked before on Auto, this needs to be fixed ASAP.
I had not problem with the VPN until a couple of days ago. This makes no sense to me at all. When I uninstalled everything I just reloaded it again from Norton website, received an email and re-installed it. I would think that downloading it again it would have the most current software for the Mobile Security. I am unable to get the latest software, can you send me the download to [Removed]. I currently have Norton 360 Deluxe and by the way why was I never notified about a new Mobile Security update?

What you refer to as the separate VPN icon is the standalone Norton Secure VPN app. You can uninstall that if you have the latest version of Norton Mobile Security installed. See the product announcement for the new Norton 360 for Android here.
Once you have the new version installed, try the different settings for the VPN feature and see if you still see this problem.
I do not have a stand alone version, I have Norton 360 Deluxe. I put the 360 deluxe on my phone back months ago and the VPN was fine and running 24/7. In the last several days it disconnects after about 20 minutes or so. I do not want to use the killswitch and Norton does not recommend it. I uninstalled it then installed both the Mobile security and the VPN icon seperately and it still does the same thing as before I even uninstalled it. I would like to get a phone number to talk to someone personally not on chat. I cant find a support phone number anywhere. I have had Norton for about 15 years now and now I have problems with it.
I have a Samsung A70 and not sure what the OS version is, but it worked on this same phone for months now. I am not happen with this problem and need resolve as soon as possible. I cant find any step by step to help me either.

What device and OS version are you using?
Both Android and iOS versions of Norton Mobile Security, NMS, have been updated to include a VPN function. So if you have the standalone Norton Secure VPN still installed, you should ununstall that.
Then in the NMS apps, there are settings for automatic control of the VPN feature, or you can manually turn it on. Check those settings and try turning the VPN on manually if that is what you want.
