VSupport LLC Scam

As previous post have explained, I to got caught up in the VSupport LLC Scam. Purchased a new computer at a local "Best Buy" with Windows 10 (first experience with this version) and sales person insisted we needed to purchase Microsoft Office Software, and did. After a few days of learning Windows 10, tried to load the purchased software as directed on the card with "Best Buy" name on it. When entering the code, which requires scratching the protective coating off and voiding any return, a window popped up with a group of numbers to call for assistance. Long story shortened I with much reservation allowed them access, they got the office software loaded and a bunch of useless junk software tied to their company and would not release the computer till I gave them a credit card number. They made many promises in the conversation, 2 years support, 6 years of Norton, etc. We then received an E-Mail with their Invoice which did not include any of the items, only 1 year support on 1PC. But, the best situation was the next day, after I fully realized what I had done and was stripping as much of our info. off the computer as I could and repacking to return it, a VSupport LLC representative called and asked why I wasn't on my computer. I knew better but, allowed this to happen and will never happen again!

Glad to hear they did not leave you holding the baby .....

Thanks again for the heads up.

Mentioned the situation to anyone who would listen (manager, Geek Squad, etc.) and no one at this store had any knowledge of VSupport LLC or at least that they would admit. They were agreeable to take the computer back and give me a full refund. I since have read other complaints about Best Buy and loading this same software, so in reality I believe the corporation is fully aware of this.

Thanks for all the details. Have you taken this up with BestBuy? Be interested to know what they said -- that it was pure coincidence that it coincided with the code entry?
