Asking the obvious here since I don’t recall seeing any confirmation other than from users. Is it known/understood that Exclusions here does not work?

That’s all good info, but my point was that Exclusions does not work. In order to share files with other computers on a private network, you must disable File & Printer sharing protection completely.
why are you adding exclusion to Intrusion Prevention?
and your Private Network settings are default?
and your Automatic Network Control is Smart Mode with Notifications?
and you tried Smart Firewall → Restore default settings?
any Blocked devices?
I need to add exclusions for local machines on my private network in order to share files between them. Otherwise the setting under Remote Access Protection for File & Printer sharing will block ALL File & Printer sharing. This was not necessary in v22. I’m fine with a more comprehensive and strict environment, but at least make it work as designed.
My Private Network settings ARE set to their default, I have not touched them.
Automatic Network Control IS set to Smart Mode with Notifications.
I’m not willing yet to restore default settings because I manually manage ALL program access and spent a considerable amount of time setting that up

I have no idea how to effectively report it to norton support. I figured it would be a waste of time and getting the information I posted here to someone in support that could actually comprehend it and then communicate that to someone that could fix it would be a long shot at best. You usually find a more knowledgeable group of individuals here in the forums. Given what management has done for the product, I figure they’ve also ruined whatever support they had.
I sent a note using their “support tool”. We’ll see what happens. All the information they need is in forum posts here that I quoted.

So, to share files on your local network…you need to either disable File and printer sharing (Samba) protection or add Intrusion Prevention exclusion.
So, by adding exclusion…you’re adding a trusted connection.
Does v24 feel like it’s missing a user option →
for example:
Block all connections except the following:
Enter a trusted IP address or IP range, then click Allow:
