Okay, sorry. I am not familiar with the "internet family."

I have Norton Internet Security. When I moved from Firefox browser 3.5 to the new Firefox version 9, my Norton "Identity safe" automatic log-in feature stopped workingy. THAT is what I hoped had been addressed by you (Norton.)

In the mean time I have managed to restore a backup and return to Firefox 3.5. I do want to start using Firefox 9 but not at the expense of loosing the Norton Internet Security log-in feature.

Bruce

flyingguy,

The forum is for the product of Norton Online Family.  I'm sorry I don't have the knowledge and authority to help you with the Norton Internet Security question.  I've notified the forum administrator to move your post to an appropriate forum for better exposure.

Thanks,

Katie

Hi Flyingguy,

Welcome to Norton Community,

Yes, We have released a patch (Firefox9(9.0.1) Support  for Norton Toolbar).   Your logins will work in FF9 too.

Please find more information about the patch from this link

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-9-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/td-p/615563

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes?

Thanks,

Senthil

Having trouble getting FF 9.0.1 to work with NIS2012 on Win7 Ultimate 32 bit. Worked fine on Home Premium. Any thoughts?

I do not have a toolbar enable button in FF.

Tim

Thanks Senthil,

Do I have to run the Norton tool bar for the logins feature to work? I don't care for the toolbar.

Thanks - Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Yes. logins feature will work only if Norton toolbar enabled in the browser.

Thanks,

Senthil

Hi Tim,

Norton Internet Security 2012 (19.2) Norton Toolbar   2012.2.2.5 (updated version) to have enable button in FF->tools->addons->extension, If you don't have latest version, it means still patch is not applied into your system,

In order to get that patch, please run liveupdate repeatedly  until it shows " your Norton product has latest updates" and reboot whenever it requires.

Once you got the latest version 2012.2.2.5  Go to FF->Tools->Addons->Enable Norton toolbar addons and restart FF

Please find more info from this link

Thanks,

Senthil

Dear Senthil,

Thanks for your prompt replies. Is your plan to get logins working without forcing me (and your other users) to use the Norton toolbar? It uses up real estate on my computer screen that I don't want to loose. Using Norton Internet Security with Firefox 3.5 (which I am doing now)  the logins feature does not require the Norton Toolbar.

I have to admit, this reminds me of Yahoo's approach to force on it's users what the programmers feel the users should like. Please excuse my negativity. It's just darned frustrating. I hope Norton will take the ethical approach and restore the logins feature so it will work with Firefox 9 with making us (your customers) have to use the Norton Toolbar.

Sincerely - Captain Bruce

Are you taliking about hiding the toolbar in Firefox?  That is still possible with the latest NIS and all versions of Firefox.

Hello Bruce,

You can 'hide' or uncheck the Norton Toolbar in FF 9.0.1 and the Identity Safe logins still function.

However, if you disable the Norton Toolbar from within the FF Add-ons, Identity Safe will not function.

So you do not have to have the toolbar visible in order to use your logins.

Hope that helps.

(Didn't see SendOfJive posting - but you now have two confirmations that this will work  :smileywink:

Heh Heh, this is funny. You say everywhere that you have released a patch which fix the issue. The problem is LU doesn't work in NIS 2012 (version 19.1.1.3), No norton toolbar upgrade no matter how many times I run live updates. I have tried everything. I have uninstalled both FF and NIS complately. I did this three times with three diffent combinations. I'm quite frustrated now. Norton Antivirus used to be good and reIiable software. I used its older versions many years. Now I came back and only to find out that the product is piece of rubbish. Something has happened. Do better testing before release. I know the issues is mainly because of Firefox. Addon works fine in IE9 and the latest Chrome. But there are lot of addons in Firefox I haven't had any problems ever. :smileymad:

My last sentenance should have read:

What say you?

I am concerened about what "neeone75" had to say. But I will reinstall firefix 9 and give it a try to see if what you say is true. If it works, I am a happy camper.

I am a "happy camper." I upgraded to Firefox 9.1 but the identity safe logins didn't work. I checked and discovered that the Norton tool bar was disabled in Firefox so I went to firefox extensions and enabeled the toolbar. I then unchecked it in the Firefox Views tab so it no longer appeared. That solved my "real estate" problem.

However the Log-ins feature is now working!

Thank you - Captain Bruce

I have read the numerous claims that the patch for FireFox 9.0.1 is distributed via the LiveUpdate, but I have been at it for 2 days now and have also followed the advice of running the NRT which I did - both to no avail.  I have run LiveUpdate at least 50 times with the message no more updates, restarted the p.c., etc.  but I am not getting the Norton tool bar update for FireFox 9.0.1.  Getting pretty frustrated as I have always been an admirer of the NIS products, as has several computer site rankings have.

Help!!

Welcome,

Have you looked in FF at the extensions and determined if the Norton parts are disabled. They are by default now. This is a FF thing and not something which can be controled by Norton.

Keep us in the loop

Hello corporatemystic and welcome!

Can you tell us which NIS version you are running?

If you have just recently installed or re-installed NIS 2012, you may not have received the 19.2 patch which is required for the toolbar to function properly in recent versions of Firefox.

Unfortunately, the 19.2 patch has been temporarily taken off line in anticipation of the full release of the 19.5 build.

Hi  Bruce,

Thanks for the update.  Glad to know that your problem is solved :smileyhappy:

Logins feature works even if you hide the toolbar, but it should be enabled in FF->Tools->Addons->Extension

Thanks,

Senthil.
