Update: Regarding prevention of stopping LU from running, when it is clearly disabled in our Norton UI settings. I looked into the Windows Task Scheduler for entries to correlate with the previous two instances where LU ran during my test times overnight last night. Here they are right in the history section Norton 360 Patcher.
Finding the specific task that is scheduled to run given settings with Windows flags to start it I believe we can “edit” the entry for the patcher trigger, reboot and retest to see what results we get.
I don’t have a specific test machine in hand to do this at the moment. And I DO NOT recommend anyone reading this to do so either. This is just informative and I will be doing this tomorrow when time permits . Allowing for a full 24 hour cycle to see if no updates get forced. If that is the case, those who wish to remove 24.xx can use this as a workaround to keep 24.xx off their machines and remain on an earlier release before 24.xx. Remain updated using Intelligent Updater as we wait for whatever fixes or lack there of come for the present new release. Feed back is a must from everyone.
