Thread for version 24.xx issues and suggestions

No big reveal to be had lol. My reference is, all the settings in the Norton product are set to OFF. I don’t use it therefore will never run it to test for the sake of testing. Never the less, software updater still runs periodically on its own because marketing has it hard coded into the product. It runs under the process of Norton Tools which cannot be disabled in system services.

Thanks for the reply.
I’ve let the SU update a couple of easy things, non-service affecting. Just to see what it does.
What I won’t let it do is, OEM stuff.
So, ‘IGNORED’ is incrementing.

When Norton 24.xx was installed it did change my Norton time format to US 12 hours AM/PM instead of 24 hours UK/European as it was in Norton 22.xx . I have Windows 11 and my system clock is 24 hours. Also I did notice that in Settings/General - Language there is only US language not UK, that could perhaps change this as with many programs. There is in the Norton folder, en-GB.pak -locales and also locale-en_GB.json, perhaps they do not work. I have removed and installed my Norton but all the same. Send screenshot of before and after update.

After update to 24.xx

One interesting that I did notice is that if you go to Settings/Notifications - Notification settings then it is 24 hours.

Thanks for your reply SoulAsylum, I agree with you. Many good things in this new version. But it is still en late beta.

There are so many posts here that I am not sure this has been reported already. If so please bring it to my attention. The latest version 24.11.9615 ( build 883 ) now does not show any extensions installed in Edge nor Opera GX. Additionally, when trying to go back to the previous settings area the UI freezes having to completely close the UI.

Hi, I have lot of extensions for Edge, Chrome and FIrefox, same as “bjm” build 883.

Nadda my side, ,same version and build. Funny thing noticed is the device name is now listed as N/A!! What in the name of sam is going on with this product!!!

Also seeing ‘N/A’ as my device name which seems to coincide with the new V24 update.

Thanks for the confirm, I’m not the alone one in this instance lol. My devices in my account are all mucked up for a second time since last time it came up for renewal. Just about the same time this new version was initially released in September. I have one device on the correct Norton version with a serial number that doesn’t match my actual subscription for Norton Security Ultra, and no product key is listed. I have 8 other devices that show partial protection under Norton 360 and partial under Norton 360 Ultra. Those have the correct serial number and product key. The PC that I am on now is the one that shows N/A and is on the wrong serial number in my account. What a freaking mess for a second time. 15 days left on this sub and every device gets a clean cut removal, every file and folder related to Norton deleted and a reboot so Windows Defender can take over for a few days and clear this farce up I hope. I will put Norton back onto one device and one only to see how that goes and go from there. What a mess.

Bonjour,

A titre d’information, je viens de constater que le “Gestionnaire de mises à jour” ne demande plus de mettre à jour Windows Defender du moins pour l’instant.

fwiw ~ clean install

@bjm & @SoulAsylum – Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts of a clean install? Do you think that might be the answer, or is this V24 simply crap no matter how it is installed?

Hello @majorbuzz
v24 protection/product has been okay…my side.
v24 protection feels solid…albeit, feels different & missing v22 functions.
v24 product feels solid…albeit, feels different & missing v22 functions.
feels different = for example:

fwiw ~ I’ve run multiple times → Reset to Default | Repair Norton | NRnR / NRnR Remove Only / Apps Uninstall … just to see what’s what.

fwiw ~ my initial v24 install - pulled from my Norton account… was over-install v22…and after a while. I cleaned installed v24.

I’m not convinced pushing v24 over v22 is well received.
I’d rather v24 was offered by invite with clean install. $0.02

after receiving 22.11…after a while…I clean installed.

I ran clean install for Device Name N/A issue here

fwiw ~ my clean install = File Explorer remnants & Registry remnants (CCleaner)
Just me.

Hi @bjm. Thanks as always for all your input. I followed you (I think) all the way to the end where you said …
fwiw ~ my clean install = File Explorer remnants & Registry remnants (CCleaner)
Just me.
What I take away from that is the clean install left remnants which hopefully CC Cleaner vacuumed up for you, but in layman’s terms, did V24 run MUCH better (without problems) than it did when it was installed on top of V22?
Thanks!
