@MomOfARocker - Hi. I’m also a user of Firefox and have been using Norton Safe Web for years on Windows 10 PC. In October of this year I also was unfortunate enough to have had my Norton 360 upgraded to Version 24. What a complete nightmare this version is, if you read through this thread.
Back to Norton Safe Web. I never lost mine. It’s been here with me, and presumably working. I should point out that Norton hasn’t updated it since Nov of 2023.
@skiingj There is a way to go back to the older version 22.24.8.36. I believe I posted how to do that in another post here. Here is what I did.
I used the removal tool for version 24.xx and performed a removal only. Then removed ALL folders related to Norton, Symantec, Avast manually and rebooted.
Version 24.xx removal tool:
https://www.norton.com/nortonremover
Next download the older version here, when you manually run LU and have version 22.24.8.36 disable automatic updates in settings and restart: DO NOT download your product from your account, you will again install version 24.xx if you do.

Use Intelligent Updater to keep virus definitions up to date:
Remain in this mode until the 24.xx version has its issues resolved. I am doing this on my daily machine.

@SoulAsylum - Hi SA. It’s been a while. Would you be so kind as to tell me how I can see my dark web monitoring in this disgusting mess they call V24. I could swear the option was right in front of me, I clicked it, it asked me to log in, and then next thing I know, I was back on the security page.
Thanks.
@majorbuzz Have a look per this screenshot. Unfortunately I have reverted back to version 22.24.8.39 and staying there until 24.xx has its prime time day arrive. I took this screeny before reverting.
SA
@majorbuzz … yes I am very familiar with this thread, I’ve been following it since the day it started. Somewhere within the many posts to this thread it was discussed how Norton would no longer be supporting having Norton Safe Web work in Firefox or other browsers unless you had Safe Search installed. I have always used Norton Safe Web and have never used Norton Safe Search. Not long after reading in this thread that Norton Safe Web would stop working, sure enough my Safe Web Icon disappeared. It was not showing in the top right corner for at least a week, maybe longer, but I noticed a few days ago that it was back again. I changed nothing during that time. Today I turn on my laptop only to see that my UI no longer shows my name or subscription status in the lower left corner simply the words ‘Send Feedback’. I have restarted my laptop two times and it has not changed this. The other really annoying thing that has been happening is that since the day my Norton upgraded I have been having issues with my Firefox Bookmarks. Unfortunately there was an update to Firefox (version 132) a couple of hours after my Norton upgrade so I have been unsure what is causing the problem, Norton or Firefox? So since Oct 24th I have, most of that time till now, been unable to add any new bookmarks. I can delete exisiting ones and edit them, simply cannot add new ones. It appears that they are adding but then I when I go into the folder I’ve saved it to, it does not show up in there. The weird part is it won’t work for like a week and then suddenly I can add them again and only when I start to think that the problem is resolved it then stops working again, it has done this several times now. It seems to work for a week and then not work for a week. I check every day and the last day I as able to add a new bookmark was on Nov 30. There has since been another update for Firefox to version 133, which I had hoped might be the fix but nothing has changed. I really don’t know if Norton is causing the issue or Firefox and am getting ready to ditch them both. Wondering if the upgrade to the new Norton has somehow corrupted my Firefox installation. I should mention that this problem does not exist on the Edge Browser, I can add new bookmarks there without any issue, problem only exists in Firefox, coincidentally, the browser that Norton is “managing” for me. Needless to say I’m super frustrated with the situation, everything was humming along perfectly before Norton shoved this update down our throats, improving something that worked flawlessly … why oh why!?
@MomOfARocker Is your Safe Web extension on FF still version 3.22.0.2 ?
SA
Was it really just an ad because it does say moving forward that it would no longer work unless you were using Norton Safe Search. I also saw this same notice and a few days later my Norton Safe Web icon disappeared. It was gone for more than a week and then just magically re-appeared a few days ago.
Yes I just checked and the Safe Web extension is currently version 3.22.0.2
I did get this notice a couple of weeks ago and a few days later the icon disappeared and then just magically re-appeared a few days ago. It was gone for a week or longer. It was also mentioned above as being an advertisement but seems strange that it said going forward it was no longer going to work and then mine disappeared a few days later.
care to try Bitdefender Traffic Light [here]
I found the Norton site where they post about Safe Search being the default search engine and the only one supported. That suggests to me that the Norton Private Browser was being thought of.
SA
I did make a note of Bitdefender Traffic Light and will check it out if it becomes necessary but at this moment in time Norton Safe Web is back and appears to be working as normal. Sure would be nice if I could bookmark that site but as mentioned in my other post my bookmarks in Firefox have been hit or miss as far as being able to add any new ones since the day I was upgraded to v 24. Thank you for the link, however.
Well I’m not sure what they were thinking or planning, all I know is after I saw that notice it disappeared and a few days ago it returned. I made no changes to anything so assumed it was when I got updated to version 24.11.9615 (build 24.11.9615.891) that it was brought back.
My bigger concern today is where has my user name and subscription details gone? They were there before the current version of norton.
It was showing up properly on version 24.11.9615 (build 24.11.96615.889)
That is indeed odd. I was also seeing that before I reverted back to the previous version of Norton 22.24.8.36. One day it was there and gone 2-3 later. It has to be something with Norton infrastructure for the new released version. It doesn’t behave the same as the previous version on any level.
SA
Yes pretty disappointing so far. Trying to be patient but with every new build it seems that something new works or breaks. I did actually click the ‘Send Feedback’ button and let them know that my User Name and Subscription Status had disappeared but I did it more out of annoyance than an expectation that anything will be done about it.
Ok I just figured out where my User Name and Susbscription Status has moved to. As you can see from Figure 1 it was in the bottom left corner of the UI when I was on version 24.11.9615 (build 24.11.9615.889)
Figure 1
I just now noticed my initials in the upper right corner of the UI that I do not recall seeing there before and, indeed, they do not appear in any previous screen shots that I have made of v24 as you can see from the screen shot above this one.
Figure 2
Clicking my initials took me to a page showing that my Subscription Status is active. I definitely do not ever recall seeing my initials at the top right corner though so this must have changed with the most recent update to version 24.11.9615 (build 24.11.9615.891)
Bonjour,
hi guys
am I being a noob, or are the information related to different process not as easily findable ?
as far as I remember, there was a “process explorer” in old norton version that was made in a way, which was easy to find the informations about “norton reputation” (how much norton user have been using this file, etc etc…)
i can’t seem to find this in this new norton version… the only thing related to this is in the firewall, there is a little “green bar” which give a norton reputation, but there is no detail…
this was a big feature of norton, and not being able to access those data is pretty sad for me
