Thread for version 24.xx issues and suggestions

Agree 100% (and I am on v22 not v24)!!!

I guess they don’t realize that by not allowing us to revert to 22 they are driving us away to a different product. Here I go to look at Bitdefender.

I’ve asked a contact at Norton for some clarity from their side regarding the missing URL’s. Even the Rapid Release webpage is missing its download links making things even more weird. Two days for a major company to have this missing isn’t normal. Someone should have taken note of it for action way before now. Hope to get some feedback soon.

Agree 100%.

Thanks for trying!

I have seen this before where the downloads werent linked, but were back up at some point after I checked again. This was around the time I first started doing the manual updates.

If they arent back within a day or 2, I wouldnt be surprised if Gen Digital put a stop to it. But still wont force me to update to 24. My subscription expires soon so It doesnt matter much anyway.

I guess back to Windows security.

Indeed. Day three, the links aren’t available still. Don’t know what to think other than what logic tells me. Logic isn’t always correct though. Not getting answers speaks for itself in ways but its not a definite. I didn’t suggest taking down the links lightly, its the most logical reason I can see from the standpoint of keeping users from staying updated. Time will tell I suppose.

Edited: The links aren’t present when going to the site via mobile as well, its nothing on our end.

I checked the links just now. They are back!

I’m still going to look at alterative programs as I refuse to go to version 24 until they fix the VPN.

Bonjour,

Links are back indeed. Having no reply from Norton one can only guess why they weren’t there for the past three days. Now if they just stay there.

Yep, I figured they would be back.

Merci.

Update: I did get a reply from Norton. Unfortunately I cannot post that reply here and be confidential. Things are back to normal so we can now once again keep updated. As a note of caution, I found one of my reverted machines showing definitions were out of date and to click “Fix Now”. DO NOT do that, you risk being updated back to version 24.xx if you are reverted. Just update definitions and it will report good to go again.

Unfortunately both restart and shutting off didn’t remove the greyed RM on any of the computers.

I reinstalled V24 on one and disabled RM. Not sure if this happens consistently but looks like virus def update re-enables RM even if the toggle is set to disabled. If updates override users disabling it, what’s the point of providing the option? Seems pointless other than to give the impression that it’s a bug.

Yes that is a bug that has been around in ver. 24.xx since it was released. Live Update will run even if disabled. And each subsequent updates check will re-enable it each time. Somewhere buried in this thread there are posts about that.

Thank you! I thought I was losing my mind. When you get to my age, you start wondering if your memory is failing
seriously. Which is why I began taking screenshots just to reassure myself. Pathetic. :upside_down_face:

Bonjour,

Je vous remercie pour votre information.

Just an added reminder when using the Intelligent Update site. At the top of the page you will be able to select either 32 bit or 64 bit. I’ve seen some posts where updates are failing and wonder if some are selecting the 32 bit side when they are actually running a 64 bit OS. Just something to double check for.

@SoulAsylum definition pages and links are up and running again YAY - thank you, truly, for everything you’ve shared and the immense amount of time you’ve invested in this. Thanks to you, we all immediately, or a bit after V24 started frying our computers and we began coming to the community to find help, we were all able to revert back and all able to know what was going on when the definition links went dead, and you were in touch with Norton and updating us, you’ve been a lifesaver and truly beautiful and kind human. Thank you for you for you, I mean that greatly. Wishing you an easy, joyful weekend.
