I just got notice as well for the update. Not looking forward to it, but we’ll see how it goes. At least I can send an early thanks to all the great folks on this forum for the tips to deal with any potential issues. I’m already prepared to check the software updater settings and also turn off the browser protection settings for HTTPS and QUIC/HTTP3 scanning
This was also the way Backup worked in ver 22.x.x.x. I believe it may have something to do with securing the backup access when a subscriber shares their activations with others but does not want them to use the backup feature.
I have been unable to find Password manager to add new logins and passwords. When I open the app, a tab for PM is not there, so I go to search, where it asks me ‘What am I looking for?’ But it gives me 5 options, one of which is Password. When I click on That I get several options
And if I click on Password manager, I see 3 browsers where I can open each one separately. Is password manager a separate app? Help.
Password manage is a browser extension that can be downloaded and install from the respective browser website.

That’s hysterical! Disabling the program “fixes” the issue by making my computer just as terrific as it would be as if I never installed Norton!
Hysterical? Not at all. We are not Norton employees therefore we are not privy to making changes to Norton products. My entire quote was as follows: This is a known bug issue Norton has to correct, and this thread is the area we are all putting these issues so they are in one place.
“New version firewall HTTPS scanning blocks local access to local device logins. Disabling on some devices corrects the issue”.
Here is a screenshot of BOTH settings that are disabled that correct the issue for some. The QUIC/HTTP3 setting is not a industry standard and Norton is scanning for it religiously. Disabling this causes QUIC to fall back to TCP, which then, enables SSL inspection WITHOUT adverse impact on browsing. Your mileage may vary.

I am sorry you do not get the joke. I get it, but it’s not funny.
I bought the program, it worked briefly, but now it only works if I DISABLE it. So why did I but it? It’s effectively a computer disabling program that’s possible to disable. Whoopee. I used Kaspersky for over 10 years without such problems – AND it had much better support, AND it didn’t continuously try to upsell me.
- Windows context menu for file scanning does nothing when clicked to scan a file. “Select scan for viruses”.
I also seem to have this. When I start a context menu scan, it starts but… I don’t see the progress. I have to open the program itself and go through options to finally find it, somewhere. Would be handy if this could be fixed. I use Windows 11.
Otherwise I quite like the new look, no other issues so far
I checked the settings, they are:
-
Notify me about potentially uwanted programs - ON
-
Follow file-system links during scan - ON
-
Scan priority - HIGH
-
Shut down - OFF
-
Generate report file - OFF, also tried ON
It scans them but I never get that window where it shows the progress / tells that scan was completed.
I don’t get those windows. What happens is this:
- I select a file, press RMB and select it to scan a file.
- Nothing seems to happen.
When I open the program itself and go to scan history, I can see there that it did indeed scan the file. But it never shows me the progress of it during a scan, nor does it tell me what the result of the scan was. Those windows never open for me (like that which says explorer scan is running).
EDIT: I tried the Norton repair option, thinking that maybe there is a corrupt component somewhere, no change.
RMB?
fwiw ~ I press left mouse button to call scan.
fwiw ~ some v24 windows (e.g., Explorer Scan is running) will not screen snip. I need to take a picture.
Does LiveUpdate run?
Does QuickScan run?
How long have you had v24?
How did v24 arrive?
I meant right mouse button, when I start explorer scan.
Liveupdate runs OK, also quickscan. Both open the windows that they should. It is only that explorer context scan that has the issue.
I got V24 today, via liveupdate.
fwiw ~
I press right mouse button to select and left mouse button to scan
Yes, I select the file (highlight it) with left mouse button, then press right and it opens the menu, then I press left to scan it.
It scans it, but I never get those windows, it doesn’t show the progress, or tell me when it finished.
Hmm…head scratch
I’m W10
and you’ve restarted (not Shut down) machine? and run LiveUpdate again + Restart
It is not a “huge” deal, I can just scan them within the program itself, select a custom scan and scan the whole folder, for example.
Maybe this issue will be fixed in future, via upcoming updates.

Okay…Thanks
Yes, I have restarted several times since I got the V24.
