Thread for version 24.xx issues and suggestions

Bonsoir,

Thanks to the Gurus who’ve tried to sort out this mess and no thanks to Norton for being in denial.

But I still can’t understand why all the magazine etc reviews are giving Norton 360 top billing when it’s become such a mess.

Hi @TightGit. Probably because they only did their lab tests on it’s fighting malware and they hopefully are right. PC Mag review … wow, I wanted to reach out and choke them.

I’m on version 25.xx, but there are insufferable issues.

  • Every few seconds, randomly, the mouse cursor will turn to “background busy”. It is very distracting. Since the cursor is changing so often, it’s beyond irritating as it prevents you from quietly reading a webpage
  • Worse: Norton will steal the main window focus in a very visible way ! That is breaking the flow of your activities, and letting you make mistakes. This happens randomly every 10-20 minutes.

Yes, I am certain it’s Norton since I checked several times with traces, process explorer and other tools. The Windows Performance Analyser clearly shows a small peak with Norton as a source each time one of these issues occur.

This is totally unacceptable.

I’m a long-time client, but the change to v24 and these issues (that never occurred before) are the last straw.

Some of you might want to think about leaving a review on Trustpilot. They still have a 4.5 review there and seems an odd recent influx of positive reviews. I have declined to spend any more time debugging so I am sure Trustpilot will delete my review as I refused to give them any more information so they could prove my review was real. They need to check out these community boards which will provide all the info they should need. I have deleted my renewal that is upcoming and on the look for a replacement. There is nothing, including all the discounts they offered to get me to stay, that they could do at this point to get back my trust. Good luck to all and special thanks to people like SoulAsylum who continue to tirelessly help people on these threads.
