Latest version of Norton 360

Location of Backup
Detailed description:
The latest version of Norton 360 wants me to backup to the Cloud and when that is full, to my C: drive.
I want to backup to my external hard drive. That is one of the reasons I bought it.
Also, where is the traditional view of Norton on launch?

Same here, used local backups for years. Went to go through my restores to search for something. Got no backups to search. Looking at the folders, there is no app to open to view the files. Not sure which Norton app to pick. How do I do a restore? Looks like I had a backup yesterday and my update occurred this morning.

It would seem that if you have not done a backup to the Cloud, as required by the latest Norton, then you will not be able to restore old files from the backup sets you previously made from the sensible version of Norton. They have got us every which way!!

That makes no sense. I have no desire to use cloud backups. Guess I need new software, what is Norton thinking?

Like you, I have no access to my previous backups that are on my external hard drive. It looks like I am going to have to go back to a previous version of Norton to be able to get to them.

Two things I hate the most… The ‘Cloud’ and ‘Agile development’, that is where bugs like this come from.

I tried login into cloud back up, it did not provide access to any local storage, I use network storage. I have no access.
If I remove this and install an earlier version, won’t it just get replaced again without notice?

With v24
I can no longer create backup sets.
I can no longer backup to a local drive.
I see this as being a huge downgrade…

~ in my testing
v24 has one working/syncing backup with Manage .
Prior saved backups offer Restore .

~ in my testing.

Reset to Default calls/recalls No backups created yet page…
then either opt Back Up This PC or opt cloud/gear circle to amend default set.
Note: Back Up This PC starts default backup. Cloud/gear circle calls Configure backup of this PC page.

Reset to Default → No backups created yet

Note: cloud gear circle calls Configure backup of this PC

for example:

Note: + Add calls

I personally think they want to scan data for Gov and possible data brokers and that is why they are forcing the cloud only.

Except that the data on the Norton servers is encrypted with the decryption key being stored on your local computer.

This is OK if the previous backups are in my account. But they are not. The backups are in the account of my Norton supplier, i.e. I am one of 10 devices that Norton is installed on in the supplier’s account. To access the account requires a password associated with that account. I don’t expect to be given that password, even if I were to ask!

after many years with Nortons the recent changes are the end of the road. I have always used an external back up, the cloud is nowhere big enough and just an attempt to charge more.
5 months ago my password safe failed, I just couldnt access it. the password was 100% correct. On Norton advice I reset it with the recovery key. Although the one I had was the one it asked for it kept freezing. no way to access safe and no way to change the password.
Two agents took control of my computer a week apart, but couldn’t access it. The level 4 techs asked them to create detailed reports for them to review. They couldnt fix so I had to create a new password safe. They dont know what happened so they give an assurance thatr it wont happen again.
Now with not being able to back up to my hard drive me and Nortons have no future. Where to go that is the question, I have cancelled auto subscribe and have 2 months to decide.

How do I delete my old backup that obviously has been taken over by the new Version of Norton 360? I’ve tried multiple ways to remove my old backup, maybe I’m missing something? Here’s
some screen shots when I try to remove my old backup, I’d like to get the no backup configured screen. When I click delete backup no response happens!!! this version is buggy!! thanks

Hello @botayota
Have you tried deleting old backup sets online?
