Tracking thread for the new version 25.xx release

FYI!! Norton has released a fix for the backup set dates being incorrect.

Big deal!!! Since V24 I have a list of 6 things that don’t work properly. They still don’t; AND I have Norton Level 3 telling me, after they’ve taken my logs 6x since October that they were going to fix these things. I’m holding my breath!!! I’m also holding my breath for an admin to pop by and report something of interest.

Bonjour,

Good catch!! Looking back over the months long reporting of issues beginning with version 24.xx last September, continuing now to version 2.xx . The case for and obvious need is extremely urgent for a dedicated BETA and its dedicated board where these can be seen, monitored and inclusive in each new build release. It also should state in each release note what issues have been corrected that fall into the “under the hood”. My theory is under the hood is where most of our user issues lie, and, its a touch me not area reserved for marketing or whomever. Great catch.

All I just posted this over in the Tech Outpost board. Wondering how or if at all, this is applicable to some of the core issues being seen with the current Norton product model. Given some of the gaming and other issues being seen and more independent processes Norton is using I am giving this one big wink and a possible yes. Your feedback is a must.

Just received the update to 25.6.10221. As per all previous updates, I re-enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP to check if the UDP (17) bug is fixed. Of course it isn’t - Security History immediately flooded with multiple UDP (17) firewall reports. NetBIOS over TCP/IP now disabled again, pending 25.7, which, no doubt, will also not fix it.

Hey Soul Asylum,

Just letting you know that I seem to be having problems with the 25.6.10221 (build 25.6.10221.939) U.I version1.0.97 on windows 11 pro version 24H2 O.S. build 26100.4484..Seems every time I open the UI I get this..

Been happening awhile then the Norton 360 for Gamers takes forever to load, literally. NO ERROR|S

I’m running Win 10 22H2 and been having issues since the install of 25.6.10221. I was noticing my fans revving up and Norton using near 100% of my CPU on the task manger at random times. I was unable to open the Norton UI, couldn’t shut down via Task Manager and had to force shut down my computer.

As of today, I noticed that when Norton tried to run live update, Norton would freeze giving the spinning circle like your pic. I was easily able to reproduce by trying to manually run live update. The UI would freeze and live update would never compete, and I could not shut down my computer.

Trying to run a repair via the troubleshooting tab also caused the the UI to freeze with the spinning circle.

I finally decided to run a remove/reinstall which appears to have fixed the issue for now. No telling if the issues will come back tomorrow or in the future.

This all started after the update to 25.6.10221

Thanks for the post back. I haven’t had the free time to get to my one device with the latest release to verify a few things today. Been a busy bee, promising that I will ASAP and post back what I can determine.
In the meantime can all of you verify that you don’t have any Windows Updates waiting to be installed and that Windows Defender periodic scanning is NOT set to on.

It would appear that whatever release that may have came yesterday made things even worse than without it:

Too Little, Too Late

I’m Leaving Norton after Decades, They burnt my loyalty, The Gen Digital Ownership, Advertising, Nagging, And change to the software using Avast engine, And going cloud only and forcing their VPN over user’s choice leaves me with a horrible disgust I can’t ignore. I got 140 days left, After that I’m done, Good Riddance Gen Digital, You earned this disgust.

It’s deja-vu time. You all might recognise these words from about 100 posts back in this thread, when I received the 25.6 update:

Just received the update to 25.7.10308. As per all previous updates, I re-enabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP to check if the UDP (17) bug is fixed. Of course it isn’t - Security History immediately flooded with multiple UDP (17) firewall reports. NetBIOS over TCP/IP now disabled again, pending 25.8, which, no doubt, will also not fix it.

Also noticed a few minor changes have crept in the past few days, prior to receiving the update. Some of the pop-up windows, like the Scan Complete notification and Network is Compromised warning on boot-up (because my network is set to Private, not Public), have changed in size and/or shape.

Remove post per Admin request.
